Rules and Tips on Entries and Character Limits | Details |
Grant Title
| Always put the word Grant in the title at the end if it is not already included in the title or replace the word program or project with grant so one (only one) use of the word grant is part of the short grant title. Titles must be direct and short |
Funder | Guidance: limit characters to include the acronym of the overarching funder and the specific funder if multiple entities are applicable. For example: DHHS, Administration of Children & Families. Or: Endowment for the Arts. |
Funder Type | Select only one of the menu options: Federal, State, Foundation, Local |
Due | Format of date: XX/XX/XXXX. if no deadline leave blank. If this is a MANDATORY preapplication or LOI, enter deadline and indicate name of grant with preapplication or LOI in title. If grant doesn't 100% require preapps or LOI, enter grant deadline |
Alternative Deadline
| If you were unable to enter an actual deadline under "Due," meaning the grant is open or has multiple revolving deadlines, enter: Open here. There should never be a response to both the deadline and the alternative deadline field. Should be one or other. |
Amount Per Award | Enter the maximum dollar amount allowed to be awarded to a grant applicant. If there is a range, enter the highest dollar of the range. If there are multiple years, enter the total dollar able to be awarded over full grant term (all grant periods). |
Grant Term | Enter total combined funding periods, ensure amount per award field above reflects the total amount able to be secured over this entire grant term for each award given. Enter total periods of funding duration. If term not listed, default to 6 months. |
Number of Awards | If there is a range of awards, list the highest number in the range. Typically this will be just one number from the RFP indicating the anticipated number of awards for the competition. |
Funding Purpose | Must be 100 characters or less; limit repeat information from other main fields; represents simple one sentence summary of funding (no granteeze). Ex: Grants will fund innovative nutrition programs for pregnant teens in CA high schools. |
Eligibility | Select as many of the pull down eligible types as are listed in the RFP and competitive for the grant. |
Key Categories of Interest | Select as many as apply from the menu options |
Total Funding | Total dollars available from the funding opportunity (not the amount of each award) |
Equivalent Narrative Pages | Enter only the NARRATIVE page length limit from the RFP. This number should NOT include budget/attachments/other proposal requirements. If no length, enter: 50. Character spacing equals one narrative page for every 3,600 characters or 500 words. |
Geographic Focus | Enter: National if geography isn't restricted within US. If specific to a state or counties, enter specific state or regions. List country if international. 200 character limit. |
Match | If match NOT MANDATORY, write: None. Only if required, include the percent of the match and type (inkind and/or cash). Ex: 25% inkind. Do not use the word cash unless cash is the only acceptable match type. The word inkind is not hyphenated. |
Link to RFP | Guidance: link should always point to the grant siren on the website or a download pdf of one part of the application package such as the notice of funding. |
